Fifty years after the military coup in Chile, the founding texts of the Marxist Theory of Dependency and in memory of the history of struggle of the Latin American people, the proposal is to recover this political and theoretical framework of intellectuals and activists who sought to understand reality in order to transform it, and which is still valid today. This paper focuses on the history of the Dependency Group at the Centre for Socio-economic Studies (CESO) of the University of Chile. Given the potential of oral history as an interpretation constructed from the record of the experiences of protagonists, interviews were conducted (2023) with Nadia Bambirra, daughter of Vânia and Theotônio, and Jaime Osorio, an intellectual who accompanied the history of the TMD from CESO; as well as documents from POLOP, the UNB, the Dependency Group of CESO and the Chilean Popular Unity (UP).
