Abstract

Abstract:The article presents an initial balance on the economic policy of Donald Trump’s administration, whose main objective is to overcome the economic stagnation in which the US economy has developed during the last decades. After analyzing the serious obstacles that capitalism faces to overcome the global crisis and achieve a solid and sustained recovery, a characterization of the Trumpian regime is suggested, stating that this does not mean a traditional change of government, but involves a reconfiguration of the American financial oligarchy. In this context, of sharp contradictions within the bloc in power, the main elements of Trump's economic policy are examined. The author concludes that even if the proposed policies are implemented, they will hardly manage to break economic stagnation. They will be able, in the best of cases, to provoke a speculative boom of short duration but at the cost of weakening the financial structure and of creating the conditions of a new financial crisis.
