Lenin, imperialism as a phase and reflections on the imperialism today
Abstract
In this article we intend to situate the debate around the idea that imperialism is experiencing a new phase, inaugurated since the 1970s, when the capitalist system of production began to show substantial changes in its operating structure. The distinctive feature compared to previous years is the exacerbated increase of importance of financial and fictitious capital, as well as forms of valorization of capital which embody the so-called process of financialization of the economy. This distinctive feature would have led to a kind of complexity of issues related to imperialism in its current phase, as we choose to define.
Keywords: financialisation, contemporary capitalism, new phase of imperialism.
