Rosa Cusminsky was an Argentine economist who had a substantial intellectual production between the mid-1940s and the end of the 1990s, spanning several distinct political periods and different economic stages of Latin America (principally in Argentina and México). This article classifies Cusminsky’s s main contributions in the early stages of her training as an economist in Argentina. In the first place, we analyze her production as a student and her first steps in research and teaching at the schools of economic sciences of the University of Buenos Aires and the National University of La Plata. During this period, she developed her ideas on cyclical and structural aspects of the Argentine economy and their relationship with the world economy in addition to expanding her research towards the history and economic development of Latin America.
