Dynamics of financialized debt in argentine households during post-2008 period
Abstract
This study examines the financialized debt of households in Argentine in the post-2008 context up to 2020. The research delves into the primary tools facilitating access to financialized debt and the magnitude of the debt incurred, employing a quantitative methodology with data from BIS, the World Bank, IMF and BCRA. Financial expropriation and the financialization of consumption as the main theoretical frameworks are utilized to approach this phenomenon. The analysis reveals a tendency where financialized debt is increasingly utilized to sustain immediate consumption and facilitate short-term financing.
