Abstract

In this article we make a detailed characterization of the economic rearrangement processes at the subaltern classes level in Argentina in the period of 2002-2011. Assuming there has existed a process of economic rearrangement, the main problem is centered in the following points: we pretend, on the one hand, to give account of the processes of rearrangement of the total of the subaltern classes to understand its cyclical or structural character; on the other hand, to analyze the differences in the processes of economic rearrangement between different subaltern fractions; and last, we will pay special attention to the relationships between the mentioned subaltern processes and the processes at the dominant class level.

We will use the micro-data of the Encuesta Permanente de Hogares of quarterly publication since 2003 as a source of information. This survey makes a statistically significant gathering for the urban population in relation to the levels and conditions of employment, the income levels and other relevant aspects that give place to a close reading of the rearrangement processes of the subaltern classes.
